The Texas Association of Fairs & Events has bestowed its highest honor—the Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award—on Bob Williams of the Permian Basin Fair & Expo, recognizing a career defined by integrity, leadership, and unwavering dedication to the fair and events industry.

The announcement came as a powerful and unexpected moment, leaving Williams genuinely humbled as fellow board-members and his wife, Stephanie were on hand and celebrated a legacy that has shaped not only the Permian Basin Fair & Expo, but fairs and events across Texas. A member of the Permian Basin Fair & Expo since 1989, Williams has been a steady force for more than three decades—serving on the executive board, leading the farming and ranching division, acting as parliamentarian, and mentoring generations of board members with a calm, thoughtful approach to leadership.

Williams currently serves on the TAFE board and has done so for the past six years, including leadership as tradeshow director. His service also extends to numerous agricultural and community organizations, reflecting a lifelong commitment to advancing agriculture, education, and the western way of life.

“Bob has been the backbone of our farming and ranching division and a trusted voice in difficult moments,” said Don Thorn, manager of the Permian Basin Fair & Expo. “I have watched him bring the same steady leadership and ‘cool under pressure’ approach to TAFE that has made both organizations consistently successful. Bob Williams is a great friend, a hard worker, and a tremendous asset. This Hall of Fame recognition is truly well deserved.”

Known for his quiet demeanor, steady counsel, and deep love for the fair, Williams is widely regarded as one of the foundational leaders upon whom the Permian Basin Fair & Expo continues to build. His influence endures through the people he has guided, the standards he has set, and the legacy of excellence he leaves for the future.
